So David Prevailed

“So David prevailed”

“So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.”

(1Sam.17:50)

We often find ourselves at our wit’s end as to what to do in certain situations. Many times when trouble comes, so does anxiety, panic and even despair. When find ourselves in circumstances that are far beyond our own control we still need not give up. We are willing to listen to a doctor about things that only he can help us with. We are willing to call a policeman in things that only he can help us with. And we do or often have called and talked to mother or grandmother about things that only they can help us with. But sometimes we find ourselves all alone. There will be no one there help us, but God: The one friend that we so often fail to call upon. He will always take up where we are unable. He will always do for us what we stand in greatest need of. And sometimes He does this and we never even realize that He has already equipped us for the task at hand. David had no armor, no sword. But David was willing to use what God had given him. And he trusted God to make the difference. Seems that the story turned out to be a great success, much to the surprise of all that were watching.

Sometimes we just need to take what God has given us; what He has equipped us with, and step forward, depending on Him to make all the difference. If God can do all that He did with a sling and a stone, He can still use you in a mighty way, to do His will. What God requires of you is a willing heart to do His will, and a trusting heart to follow Him in that will. We may be humble, puny and weak in our own abilities and talents, but God is Great. When it is just you and He, then you are the majority.
