How far are you willing
“And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.”
In looking at the man of God, Balaam, we see a good picture of most Christians today. He is seeking reward. In this desire for reward of men he is willing to compromise the way in which God would have him to go. His flesh is dictating to him just what he is to do. He is determined to have his own way and is willing to go to any lengths to get it. Notice what he has done. He has failed to achieve his goal. God would not allow him his wish. (To curse Israel for reward and fame) In his determination for wealth and popularity, he is willing to turn away from God and go to another for what he is after. Notice that he turned his face to the wilderness. That is a picture of a man who is a Christian turning back to the life of sin that God saved him out of, in order to achieve his own goals. It will ultimately fail. How far are you willing to go to get what you want? There are only two spirits at war in this world for the souls of men. Knowing this, who did Balaam turn to for help? How far are you willing to go?
