The Legacy You Leave
Robert Murray McCheyne said, “Live so as to be missed.” We should live our lives so as to be missed. We should want someone to miss us when we are gone.
I Want to leave…
I. A missed person…verses 16-17
A. I want my companion to miss me
B. I want my children to miss me
C. I want my critics to miss me
D. I want my co-labourers to miss me
II. A marked path…verses 13-14
A. A sanctified path – of works
B. A separated path – from some things and too The Lord
C. A sacrificial path – giving of self, time, finances, prayer
D. Spiritual worship – Scriptural worship
III. A ministry to be performed…
(You have a ministry as a child of God…)
a practical ministry…
A. encouraging the saints
B. exposing sin
C. enlightening the sinner
D. exalting the Saviour
IV. A mantle that is preferred…
In verse 13 Elisha wanted a double portion of the man of God’s spirit.
His testimony was such that Elijah wanted to do even twice as much.
It is important to start right and to run well, but even more important that we finish this race right. Some one is watching us.
We must be consistent in our walk with God.
Leave such an example that some one else will want to see the work carried on when we are gone.
Leave an example the someone will want to imitate and take up the mantel and carry on behind you in the way that you led.
What is the legacy that you are leaving behind?
