‘Cause I’m Going In

“And He brought us out from thence, that He might bring us in,” (Deuteronomy 6:23a)

‘Cause I’m Going In

If you’re a christian, God did not save you and leave you as an orphan in this world. If He had saved you simply to take you to heaven, He would have done so when He saved you. If salvation was all of it I’d be in heaven now. But God has a plan for the life of every believer. What is this plan? We see in (Romans 8:29)

“For whom He did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

I know the word of God tells me that whom He foreknew He predestinated but that same word of God tells us that there are many whom He will tell to depart from Him because He never knew them. But I’m glad my Lord already knew me, and I have been predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son. Jesus told us that a corn of wheat must fall to the earth and die in order to bring forth fruit. He did just that. He gave Himself to die in order that He might bring forth much fruit. We who are saved are the fruit of that precious labor of Love which was performed on Golgatha’s hill. I’m glad and I thank God that because of Him, I’m going in. That is why I love Him so, “Cause I’m going in.”

“Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)

This is the first and great commandment according to our Lord Himself in (Matthew 22:35-38). It is not hard to love Him when I look at all He has done for me and all that He suffered for me. It is not hard at all to love Him. I love Him because He first loved me. I love Him because “I’m going in”. I’m not going in because I earned it. I am not going in because I love the Lord. The reason that I am going in is because He loved me and sent His Son to die for me. He saved me by His marvelous Grace and by His Grace I’m going in. How could I not love Him after all He’s done for me? I was one of those He went to prepare a place for, and I am one of those for whom He is coming back. I love my Lord ‘cause I’m going in.

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them dilligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

I want to know His word because I’m going in. His word is the way we get to know Him. The word of God is often called God’s love letter to man-kind. Since I’m going in one day I want to get to know as much about Him now as I possibly can. His word will help me to get ready. It is by His word that I can learn to live for Him, display Him to a lost and dying world, and hopefully show someone else the way to Him. I love Him because I’m going in and I want to know Him better. I am going to meet Him one day, face to face, because I am going in. That is why I try to keep His word in my heart as in verse 6. I tell my children that the bible says so as in verse 7, I talk of the bible with my wife, my friends, my pastor. I try to let God’s word control the work of my hands, the walk I take, my sleeping and waking. I want to follow and live the word of God, because I’m going in.

“Then beware lest thou forget the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 6:12)

If you notice, obedience to verses 4-9 result in the blessings in verses 10-11. And Moses warns Israel against one of the most prevalent sins of our day. Even Israel had this problem. That is forgetting the God who has so richly blessed us. America has done as Israel in Hosea 4 “As they were increased, so they sinned against against me.” I don’t want to forget the Lord who brought me out. I want to be reminded of Him, because I’m going in. Because I am going in I want to try and surround myself with things which remind me of Him. I want my bible close to read, to hold, just to look at. I can’t help but love that precious word of God. It reminds me of the One Who authored it. God is the Author of

that precious book and I want it near me. But I want to make sure that the literature I read reminds me of Him. I would rather learn more about God than anything else. I want the music I listen too to remind me of Him. As well as the people around me. One of the greatest joys in this life is being around other children of God. People with like affections can truly fellowship and I want God’s people around me. That is one reason I love to be at church. I can’t help but love what my Lord died for. I want to be surrounded with things that remind me of Him, because I’m going in.

“Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God.” (Deuteronomy 6:13a)

I fear Him because I am going in. For the most part the religious world today has forgotten the fact that the Lord shall judge His people and that if ye be without Chastisement, they are ye bastards and not sons. But I know the chastening hand of my heavenly Father and I fear Him because I know that He will whip me when He has too in order to keep me in line. It is a fearful thing indeed to know the chastening hand of God. At times when we get out of line God will show us, in ways that only He can, His hot displeasure at our weak and sinful ways. Oh friend, I fear Him. He can get to me in ways

that no one else can. And God never leaves room for doubt. You will know why. I am not afraid that I will be lost again, I won’t lose my salvation, it is mine, God gave it too me and the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance. I am, however, afraid of judgment for sin. I fear my Lord as a child fears it’s father. I don’t want to disappoint Him. Because I am His, He will deal with me and I fear Him because I am going in.

“and serve him” (Deuteronomy 6:13b)

I think James said it best, “show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.” Friends, works can not save you, works will not save you. On the other hand, FAITH DOES WORK! There is something terribly wrong with this religious world today that is filled to overflowing with people who claim to have been saved for many years yet they have never been faithful to attend church, do not give, don’t show up for prayer meetings or visitation. This same bunch is usually still living with the same sins they had when they made their profession! If your faith won’t work, it’s not saving faith, James says faith without works is dead being alone. (James 2:17) and again we see that as the body without the spirit is dead, so is faith without works in (James 2:26). So then, if you have life within you, if you are saved, you will serve the Lord. I want to serve Him, why? Because I’m going in. If we will love God, learn His word, remember Him, fear Him, serve Him, we will receive the greatest blessings that a servant could hope for. I love to testify. I love to tell folks about what the Lord has done for me. We should look for any opportunity to do so. But one day we will have the opportunity that we wait for….

“And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean these testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgements, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?” (Deuteronomy 6:20)

I want to reflect Him, “cause I’m going in.” What a precious day when a father has the opportunity to truly testify to his children. Right now, my sons hear me preach, they hear me read, they hear me pray. They see me study, hear me sing. They even hear me Sometimes giving my tetstimony. But right now, while they are small and under the care of my wife and I, they think everyone is like us. One day, they will come to the realization that we are not all alike and that those who believe as we do are the ones who are truly different. That is when they will really want to know why. “Daddy, why are we so different from them? Why can’t we have those things, go those places and do as they do? Why don’t we dress like that and talk like that? Why daddy? Notice now, the word of God says, “when thy son asketh thee” and not “if thy son asketh thee”. That tells us that there is coming a day in which we will be granted the opportunity to testify to our children of what God has done for us and why we serve Him. What greater reward for service than the opportunity to testify to our children? We should want our lives to reflect God in such a way that our children will one day ask the reason for living as we do. I want to reflect Him because I’m going in.

“Then thou shalt say unto thy son, we were Pharoah’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand: And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharoah, and upon all his household, before our eyes: And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.” (Deuteronomy 6:21-23)

I’ll be able to tell my boys one day that I am different, cause I’m going in.
